The first ROSEnet training school took place in January 2017 in the University of Helsinki, Finland, and focused on the relative nature of exclusion. The four day programme offered attendees insights into the old-age exclusion concept and its relative nature, the influence of migrant and ethnic cultural positioning, the importance of different place contexts (urban and rural), and the influence of different welfare systems on experiences of exclusion. Organised by Professor Marjaana Seppänen, the training school included contributions from Professor Thomas Scharf (University of Newcastle); Professor Sandra Torres (University of Uppsala), Professor Virpi Timonen (Trinity College Dublin) and Dr. Kieran Walsh (National University of Ireland Galway).
